USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, Rio de Janeiro: Crew Startled by Two Hovering Discs Exchanging Fireball
On July 26, 1956, crew of the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in Rio de Janeiro port watched two disc-shaped vehicles hovering one above the other; the upper disc ejected a fireball into the lower one, then both departed at great speed.
Background
From the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, at anchor in the port of Rio de Janeiro, crewmen were startled to see two disc-shaped vehicles, one directly over the other, hovering above the flattop. Momentarily the upper disc ejected a fireball, which entered the top of the other. Both then left at great speed.
This was the second UFO incident involving the USS FDR β the first occurred during Operation Mainbrace in September 1952 when a silvery sphere was photographed.
