Trindade Island UFO Photographs

On January 16, 1958, at around noon, many officers, sailors, and others sighted an unusual object from the deck of a Brazilian Navy training ship near Trindade Isle. Photographer Almiro Barauna captured a series of photos of the disc-shaped object.

Almiro Barauna took a series of photos showing a disc-shaped object described as a flattened sphere with a ring at its equator.

Investigation The Brazilian Navy Ministry endorsed the photographs. Navy Minister Adm. Antonio Alves Camara vouched for their authenticity after meeting with President Juscelino Kubitschek, who ordered them released to the public. The photos were analyzed by the Navy Photo Reconnaissance Laboratory and Cruzeiro do Sul Aerophotogrammetric Service, both confirming authenticity.

Significance The Trindade photographs remain among the most valuable UFO photos ever taken.
