On the evening of October 12, 1994, computer engineer Richard R. Giroux and a colleague visited the waterway at the edge of Lake Okeechobee in Florida seeking relaxation after work. Around 9:00 p.m., they observed a brightly lit circular craft approximately 35 feet in diameter approaching silently at low altitude. The object displayed no strobe lights required for aircraft and moved slowly at about 20 mph.
