West Springfield, MA: Woman Observes Bright Lights in Woods
A woman witnessed mysterious bright lights in the woods behind her home from a second-story window. The illumination intensified dramatically before fading from left to right, leaving her paralyzed with fear. She later realized the phenomenon originated from within the wooded area rather than neighboring properties.
Background
On February 19, 2005, between 4:00 and 4:30 AM EST, a resident of West Springfield, Massachusetts, observed anomalous lights from her daughter's second-story bedroom window. Initially believing the lights came from a neighbor's garage, she watched as multiple light sources merged into one continuous bright illumination. The light became progressively brighter without flickering or dancing like fire.
At peak intensity, the phenomenon began to diminish from left to right. Before completely fading, the witness observed the silhouette of only one tree, despite multiple trees being present. The experience left her paralyzed with fear for approximately two and a half hours.
Upon waking later, she realized her perspective had been incorrect. The neighbor's house was actually to the left of her view, with only the corner of the roof visible. The lights had originated from within the woods behind the property, elevated above both the treetops and ground level. No sound was reported, and neighbors did not observe anything unusual.
