Background

In April 2011, a video uploaded to YouTube claimed to show the remains of a small humanoid creature found in the snow near Kamensk, Republic of Buryatia, Siberia. The footage, which quickly garnered millions of views, depicted a skeletal figure with large eyes and missing limbs, allegedly discovered following reports of glowing objects in the sky.

Local authorities from the Emergencies Ministry initially found no evidence of aircraft crashes in the region. Subsequently, the chief editor of the regional newspaper Kabansk-Info alerted police after suspecting the figure might be an infant's body. During the investigation, law enforcement identified and questioned the men responsible, who admitted to creating the fake alien using chicken skin stuffed with bread and painted in unusual colors.

Police confirmed the incident was a deliberate hoax. While numerous UFO sightings had been reported in the area during March 2011, these were later attributed to military bombing exercises. The creators faced no criminal charges beyond administrative scolding for the stunt.
