FOIA request uncovers lost FBI cattle mutilation files
The Black Vault filed a targeted FOIA request for FBI records from 2000-2005, revealing that some cattle mutilation documents were lost or possibly destroyed while others were partially released.
Background
In July 2021, researchers submitted a refined FOIA request seeking records dated between 2000 and 2005 that had not been published on the Bureau's public website. The request yielded approximately forty pages regarding an animal mutilation incident deemed non-anomalous. However, the response also indicated that additional records which should have existed according to indices were either lost or deliberately destroyed. This revelation raised significant concerns about archival preservation and potential destruction of evidence related to ongoing mysterious livestock mutilation phenomena.
