John Greenewald Jr. filed FOIA case 21-F-0964 with the Department of Defense. The initial request sought all communications between former AATIP director Luis Elizondo and senior Pentagon official Neill Tipton.
Tipton was specifically named as one of three officials against whom Elizondo had filed a separate Inspector General complaint alleging retaliation and spreading of incorrect data. The request was later narrowed to focus on emails containing terms such as 'unidentified,' 'AATIP,' and 'UAP' to accommodate the DoD's processing requirements.
