The Black Vault: FOIA request filed for AOIMSG documents
The Black Vault filed a comprehensive Freedom of Information Act request seeking all records related to the newly announced AOIMSG and AOIMEXEC. Submitted on the same day as the Pentagon's public announcement, the request specifically targeted memoranda, emails, mission statements and draft documents. The inquiry aimed to uncover the internal creation process and early deliberations of the UAP office.
Background
On November 23, 2021, immediately following the Pentagon's public release of the AOIMSG memorandum, The Black Vault submitted FOIA case 22-F-0224. The request sought complete documentation regarding both the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group and its executive oversight body, AOIMEXEC. Specifically, it demanded access to letters, memoranda, emails between relevant parties, mission statements, PowerPoint presentations, and draft documents concerning the creation of these entities. The broad scope was designed to capture the entire paper trail of the office's establishment, including internal deliberations and communications between Defense Department officials. This proactive filing attempted to secure transparency regarding the Pentagon's newest UAP investigation structure before potential classification could obscure its origins.
