Background
During 2022, after the initial FOIA release revealed missing attachments, Elizondo agreed to supply copies of the unclassified documents from his personal records. However, he subsequently discovered that his entire private email archive had been deleted. In 2024, through legal counsel, Elizondo suggested various explanations for this data loss, including potential hacking, system glitches, or deliberate interference. The inability to access his own records complicated efforts to verify his role within AATIP independently of government disclosure.
