Background
On July 6, 2023, The Black Vault published the complete response to Freedom of Information Act requests filed immediately following the initial media disclosure. The document archive contained official records from three military components: Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One, Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group, and base Range operations.
The release comprised 128 high-resolution photographs, several video files shot by military personnel, and official correspondence regarding the incident. These authenticated government records established the military's perspective on events occurring during the night training exercise. The materials included timestamps and technical metadata confirming the April 20, 2021 date.
Publication of these documents allowed independent researchers to analyze official accounts alongside the previously released civilian footage.
