Background

On February 9, 2023, the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General released responsive records to The Black Vault following FOIA requests filed in October 2022. The released documents included a partially redacted transcript of an interview conducted with Luis Elizondo on approximately May 19, 2021, as part of a whistleblower reprisal investigation. Additionally, the release contained internal communications within the DoD/OIG and a February 16, 2022 letter from Nilgen Tolek closing the investigation.
