3AF
The 3AF (Association Aéronautique et Astronautique de France) is France's premier professional society for aerospace engineers, scientists, and policy specialists. Founded in 1975, it operates technical commissions covering propulsion, materials, space, and defence, as well as public outreach through conferences and publications.
UAP Role
Since 2008, 3AF has operated a dedicated Commission SIGMA2, the successor to earlier SIGMA committee work, focused specifically on the scientific study of unidentified aerospace phenomena. SIGMA2 brings together former French Air Force officers, research scientists, and aerospace engineers to evaluate documented cases, produce reports, and advise policymakers. The 2014 SIGMA2 Progress Report was one of the most detailed European scientific assessments of UAP.
Paris Conference
3AF has hosted multiple Paris conferences on UAP science, testimonies, and policy, drawing international participants including Leslie Kean, Hal Puthoff, and French defence-establishment figures. These conferences are among the most significant European UAP venues after the UK's defence-community briefings and Sol Foundation symposia.
