57th Fighter Interceptor Wing
The 57th Fighter Interceptor Wing, a U.S. government military unit of the United States Air Force, was established in March 1948 at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, for air defense, redesignated as such on January 20, 1950, and inactivated in 1951. Reactivated in 1969 at Nellis AFB, Nevada, as the 57th Fighter Weapons Wing (later 57th Wing), it focuses on advanced aircrew training, tactics development, operational testing, and exercises like Red Flag.
