Avianca is the flag carrier of Colombia, founded in 1919 as Sociedad Colombo-Alemana de Transporte Aéreo (SCADTA). It is the second-oldest continuously operating airline in the world after KLM, with its hub at Bogotá's El Dorado International Airport. Avianca operates across Latin America, North America, and Europe.

UAP Encounters

Avianca pilots and crew have been involved in several noted UAP encounters. The best-known is the Avianca Flight 132 incident, during which a Colombian pilot reported encountering an enormous UFO. This case has been cited in South American aviation UFO literature and is logged in the Colombian Aeronautica Civil files alongside other commercial-aviation reports.

Aviation Context

Colombia, with extensive tropical airspace and high-altitude Andean routes, has produced a substantial body of commercial-pilot UAP reports. Avianca's reports feed into Colombian civil-aviation safety channels and, through IATA, into international sharing arrangements. The airline's long history makes its archive a valuable data source for Latin American UAP analysis.
