Barack Obama Presidential Library
The Barack Obama Presidential Library, administered by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) since 2017, is the 14th U.S. presidential library and the first fully digital one, located in the United States. It is a government entity focused on preserving and providing access to Obama administration records, including 30 million pages of paper and 95% born-digital materials like emails and videos, stored in NARA facilities in Hoffman Estates, IL, and College Park, MD. Key activities include digitization, FOIA processing (available since 2022), and collaboration with the nonprofit Obama Foundation for displays at the privately operated Obama Presidential Center in Chicago's Jackson Park. The Center, under construction since 2021 with topping out in 2024, will open in June 2026 as a museum, public library branch, forum, and community spaces on 19.3 acres, but NARA holds no physical presence there. No records indicate involvement in UAP/UFO research or government programs related to those fields. Current status: Records accessible online; Center nearing completion.
