Brazilian UFO Researchers Committee
The Brazilian Committee of UFO Researchers (CBU) is a civilian organization composed of six UFO researchers founded in April 2004. Based in Brazil, it operates as an independent research group dedicated to UFO investigation and government transparency. The committee's key achievement was launching the 'UFOs: Freedom of Information Now' campaign, which successfully pressured the Brazilian Air Force to declassify UFO documents and grant civilian researchers access to classified files. In May 2005, CBU members met with Brazilian Air Force officials and were shown classified cases from 1954, 1977, and 1986. The organization played a crucial role in establishing official government recognition of UFO research as a legitimate activity and contributed to Brazil's 2008 transparency law requiring government agencies to respond to public information requests within 20 days.
