Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is a United States Air Force installation located in Tucson, Arizona, established as an active military facility. The base has served as a hub for various military aviation operations and training programs, including Operation Snowbird, a pilot training initiative conducted by the Air National Guard. Davis-Monthan gained notable attention in UFO research contexts due to its involvement in the Phoenix Lights incident of March 13, 1997, when A-10 Thunderbolt jets from the base conducted training exercises that were widely witnessed and initially attributed to unidentified flying objects. The base also housed experimental aircraft programs and has been associated with classified military aviation projects. As an open base with public tours of certain areas, Davis-Monthan has inadvertently contributed to UFO sighting reports when experimental or unusual aircraft were spotted by civilians.
