Homestead Air Force Base
Homestead Air Reserve Base, originally Homestead Army Air Field, was founded on September 16, 1942, in Miami-Dade County, United States. It is a government military installation, initially under U.S. Army Air Forces, later Strategic Air Command, Tactical Air Command, and now Air Force Reserve Command. Key activities included WWII aircraft ferrying and pilot training for C-46/C-54, Cold War bomber operations with B-47s, fighter deployments during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, and air defense alerts with F-102s. Notable achievements encompass critical roles in global conflicts, Global War on Terror missions like Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Severely damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, it transitioned from active Homestead AFB to reserve base, currently hosting the 482nd Fighter Wing and Special Operations Command South headquarters. No documented involvement in UAP/UFO research or government programs found.
