Japan Air Lines (JAL), founded in 1951 in Japan, is a civilian commercial airline. In UAP/UFO context, it is renowned for Cargo Flight 1628 on November 17, 1986, over Alaska, where Captain Kenji Terauchi and crew reported three UFOs, including a massive 'mothership' twice an aircraft carrier's size, pacing their Boeing 747 for 400 miles. The sighting was corroborated by FAA, Air Force, and onboard radar, though other nearby aircraft saw nothing. FAA deemed the crew rational but labeled Terauchi a 'UFO repeater'. Skeptics attribute it to planets Jupiter and Mars. No formal JAL involvement in UAP research; JAL remains operational as a major airline.
