Naval Air Station Oceana is a United States Navy military installation located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Established as a naval air station, it serves as a primary operational base for fighter squadrons. The base gained significant attention in UAP/UFO research contexts when, beginning in 2014, pilots assigned to squadrons stationed there—particularly VFA-11 (the Red Rippers)—began detecting unidentified aerial phenomena on upgraded radar systems. These encounters involved objects exhibiting anomalous flight characteristics, including rapid acceleration and the ability to maintain position against hurricane-force winds. The incidents reported by pilots from NAS Oceana contributed substantially to congressional testimonies and government investigations into UAPs, leading to increased official scrutiny of such phenomena and the establishment of the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office.
