The Simons Foundation is a private civilian philanthropic organization founded in 1994 by Marilyn and Jim Simons in New York City, USA. With assets exceeding $5 billion, it advances research frontiers in mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences, autism (via SFARI), and neuroscience through grants, fellowships, and collaborations like the 25 Simons Collaborations launched since 2012. Notable achievements include funding Quanta Magazine and The Transmitter, pioneering large-scale autism research from 2003, and supporting discovery-driven projects in cosmology and ecology. David Spergel became president in 2021 after Marilyn Simons' tenure; it remains active with over 500 staff.
