Sociedade Pelotense de Investigação e Pesquisa de Discos Voadores
The Sociedade Pelotense de Investigação e Pesquisa de Discos Voadores (SPIPDV), a civilian UFO research group, was founded on March 25, 1972, in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Headquartered at Rua Marcilio Dias, 1566, it conducted investigations into UFO sightings, animal mutilations, and related phenomena, publishing bulletins from April to October 1973 that detailed cases in Rio Grande do Sul and Uruguay. These bulletins, along with other materials, were archived in Brazilian Air Force CENDOC envelopes, indicating government surveillance of its activities during the 1970s military regime. SPIPDV corresponded with military figures like Gen. Alfredo Moacyr de Mendonça and was listed among civilian UFO organizations in official inquiries. Notable for early Brazilian ufology contributions amid monitored research, its current status is unknown, with no recent activity reported.
