United States Space Command
United States Space Command (SPACECOM) is a unified combatant command of the U.S. Department of Defense established in 1985, responsible for military space operations and defense. In the context of UAP research, SPACECOM provides operational definitions and coordinates reporting of unidentified anomalous phenomena detected in the space domain, defined as objects at altitudes of 100 kilometers or higher. According to the 2024 Consolidated Annual Report on UAP, SPACECOM works with the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to investigate space-domain UAP reports, though such reports typically originate from military or commercial pilots and ground observers rather than space-based sensors. SPACECOM continues to support the U.S. government's systematic approach to understanding and addressing UAP as a national security matter.
