Betty Jane Williamson, born Betty Jane Hettler, was an American chemist and anthropologist who played a key role in early UFO contactee research alongside her husband, George Hunt Williamson (1926-1986). Holding an A.S. from Grand Rapids Junior College, B.S. from Eastern New Mexico University, and B.A. from the University of Arizona, she was a member of the American Anthropological Association and American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 1952, living in Prescott, Arizona, she and George met Alfred and Betty Bailey, experimenting with automatic writing to receive messages from extraterrestrials like Nah-9, warning of nuclear threats. These formed the basis of the 1954 book The Saucers Speak!, co-authored by the Williamsons. They joined George Adamski for his November 20, 1952, desert contact near Blythe, California. Betty supported George's prolific UFO writings, including Other Tongues—Other Flesh (1957), pioneering ideas on ancient extraterrestrial influences like Nazca lines.
