Bob Considine (1906-1975) was an American journalist and syndicated columnist known for his skeptical stance on UFOs during the early 1950s. He collaborated with the U.S. Air Force's Project Grudge, receiving access to military UFO files from Air Technical Intelligence Center director Colonel Harold Watson. In January 1951, Considine published 'The Disgraceful Flying Saucer Hoax' in Cosmopolitan magazine, a debunking article that harshly criticized UFO witnesses as 'screwballs,' 'true believers,' 'pranksters,' 'half-wits,' 'cranks,' and 'publicity hounds.' This piece targeted prominent cases like the 1950 Mariana UFO film, prompting Nick Mariana to sue Considine for slander, though the lawsuit was dropped in 1955. His work supported official efforts to downplay UFO reports amid programs like Project Grudge and Blue Book.
