Bobby Ray Inman (born April 4, 1931) is a retired United States Navy four-star admiral and prominent figure in the U.S. Intelligence Community. A Texas native, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1950 and served 31 years in naval intelligence, rising to Director of Naval Intelligence (1974-1976), Director of the National Security Agency (1977-1981), and Deputy Director of Central Intelligence (1981-1982). Inman supported the official conclusion that the 1947 Roswell incident involved a crashed weather balloon from Project Mogul, stating alongside NSA and Air Force officials that no agency dissenter challenged this deliberate assessment. No other direct involvement in UAP/UFO research, military UFO programs, or related fields is documented in available sources. Post-retirement, he led tech firms, chaired the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and held academic roles at UT Austin.
