Capt. Claudius Belk
Captain Claudius Belk was a U.S. Air Force officer serving as head of the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) District 4 in Baltimore during the late 1940s. In June 1948, amid early UFO investigations following Project Sign's 'Estimate of the Situation,' Belk received orders from OSI headquarters to locate inventor Jonathan Caldwell and his experimental aircraft prototypes. These included the Cyclogyro and Disk-Rotor Plane from the 1930s, which bore resemblances to reported flying saucers. Assisted by Special Agent Von Maucher and Maryland State Police, Belk pursued leads on Caldwell's vanished test site in Anne Arundel County but faced challenges due to vague information and Caldwell's disappearance. His investigation reflected Air Force efforts to determine if terrestrial secret projects explained UFO sightings, though no direct extraterrestrial conclusions were reached.
