Charles Metz
Witness
Charles Metz was a 1st Lieutenant pilot in the United States Air Force's 512th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. On August 13, 1956, he crewed a T-33 trainer jet alongside 1st Lieutenant Andrew Rowe to investigate radar contacts during the Lakenheath-Bentwaters incident, a significant UFO sighting near RAF Bentwaters in Suffolk, England. Despite radar operators tracking multiple unidentified objects moving at extremely high speeds, Metz and Rowe reported seeing nothing during their aerial investigation, though ground observers at nearby RAF Lakenheath reported seeing bright objects. The incident was later analyzed by the Condon Committee, which concluded it represented one of the most puzzling cases in their radar-visual files.
