Daniel Evans

Daniel Evans is a NASA official serving as the assistant deputy associate administrator for research at NASA's Science Mission Directorate (SMD). He was designated as the federal official responsible for orchestrating NASA's Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Independent Study Team, which was announced in June 2022. Evans played a central role in assembling and leading a 16-member team of leading scientists, data analysts, and aerospace safety experts tasked with studying UAP data and developing methods for scientific analysis of unidentified aerial phenomena. The study team began work in October 2022 and released its final report in September 2023, which found no evidence of extraterrestrial life responsible for UAP sightings but highlighted the need for improved data collection and analysis methods.
