David Michael Jacobs (born August 10, 1942) is an American historian and retired Associate Professor of History at Temple University, specializing in 20th-century American history. He earned his Ph.D. in intellectual history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1973 with a dissertation on the UFO controversy in America, published as 'The UFO Controversy in America' (1975) by Indiana University Press—the first sympathetic academic book on UFOs. A pioneer in ufology, Jacobs has researched UFOs and alien abductions since the 1960s, conducting nearly 1,200 hypnotic regressions with over 150 abductees, developing the first scientific typology of abduction experiences. He taught the only regular university course on UFOs for over 25 years. Key publications include 'Secret Life' (1992), 'The Threat' (1999) revealing an alien hybridization agenda, 'UFOs and Abductions' (2000), and 'Walking Among Us' (2015) on alien-human hybrids infiltrating society. He collaborated with Budd Hopkins on the 1992 Roper poll and lectured widely, including first scientific papers on abductions at Cornell (1989).
