Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and member of the Sol Foundation's Social Sciences Advisory Board. Her research explores the intersections of religion, technology, and anomalous experience, with a focus on how UAP encounters function as new religious phenomena. Author of 'American Cosmic: UFOs, Religion, Technology' (Oxford University Press, 2019) and 'Encounters: Experiences with Nonhuman Intelligences' (St. Martin's, 2023). Consulting producer for the Emmy-nominated Netflix docuseries 'Encounters' (2023).
