Dorsey Kammerer
Dorsey Kammerer was a Lockheed foreman in the Skunk Works division during the 1950s. In March 1955, Skunk Works leader Kelly Johnson dispatched him alongside test pilot Tony LeVier to scout potential secure test sites across the deserts of southern California, Nevada, and Arizona, evaluating up to 50 locations while maintaining secrecy by wearing hunting apparel. Their mission identified Groom Dry Lake (Area 51) as ideal for testing the U-2 spyplane, a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft whose flights later contributed to numerous UFO sightings misidentified as extraterrestrial craft. Kammerer's role supported the establishment of this ultra-secret U.S. government aviation base, central to black projects blending advanced technology with UAP-related public perceptions.
