Ed White

Ed White was an American astronaut who, on June 4, 1965, alongside James McDivitt, spotted a large metallic object approaching the Gemini orbiter during a spaceflight. White reported the unidentified object to mission control, though the crew exercised caution in their communications, later determining the object was likely the S-IVB rocket stage that had been jettisoned two days earlier. This incident represents one of the few documented UAP sightings by astronauts during the early space program and contributed to the historical record of aerial phenomena observations by trained military and space personnel.
