Edward Mills Purcell

Edward Mills Purcell (1912-1997) was an American physicist born in Taylorville, Illinois. Renowned for sharing the 1952 Nobel Prize in Physics with Felix Bloch for discovering nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), he led radar research at MIT's Radiation Laboratory during World War II. Purcell advanced radio astronomy by detecting the 21 cm hydrogen line in 1951 with Harold Ewen, enabling mapping of interstellar hydrogen. He advised Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson on science. No documented involvement exists in UAP/UFO research, military UFO programs, or related fields; his expertise centered on physics, astrophysics, and biophysics.
