Edwin H. Land
Edwin H. Land (1909–1991), American physicist and inventor, is renowned for inventing polarizing filters and instant photography via Polaroid Corporation. In UAP/UFO-related fields, he significantly contributed to military photographic reconnaissance during the Cold War, developing cameras for U-2 spy planes, Corona satellites, Genetrix balloons, Samos satellites, and Manned Orbiting Laboratory. He advised President Eisenhower on reconnaissance, served on the President’s Science Advisory Committee (1957–1973) and President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (1961–1977). No direct involvement in UAP/UFO research or testimony is documented; contributions were to classified intelligence optics. Land held 535 patents, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and founded the Rowland Institute for color vision studies.
