Florence Van Straten
Florence Van Straten (1913โ1992) was an American chemist-turned-meteorologist and researcher for the U.S. Navy. Born in New York, she became a pioneer in naval meteorology and oceanography, serving as a key figure in these fields during the mid-20th century. Van Straten received a commission in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II and later became a professor of physical chemistry at New York University. While her primary contributions were to meteorology and oceanography rather than UAP/UFO research, she was among the exceptional women scientists who advanced U.S. military research during the Cold War era.
