George Pedley (late 1920s/early 1930s–2022) was an Australian banana farmer from Euramo, near Tully, Queensland. On January 19, 1966, while driving his tractor near Horseshoe Lagoon on neighbor Albert Pennisi's property, he heard a loud hissing sound and witnessed a metallic, dome-shaped flying saucer, about 25 feet wide, rise from the swamp and depart westward at high speed, leaving behind a 30-foot-diameter 'saucer nest' of clockwise-swirled, uprooted reeds that floated like a mat. This marked Australia's first prominent crop circle case, sparking regional 'saucer nest' reports and media frenzy, including his 1994 appearance in 'Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World.' A private man, Pedley rarely discussed the event publicly post-fame, assisting select interviews like Bill Chaffey's 1981 probe. No known publications; his testimony fueled UAP debates, though skeptics cite natural causes.
