James V. Forrestal

James Vincent Forrestal (1892-1949) was an American government official who served as the last Secretary of the Navy (1944-1947) and the first United States Secretary of Defense (1947-1949). In UFO lore, he is alleged to have been a member of the purported Majestic 12 (MJ-12) group established to manage the UFO issue after the 1947 Roswell incident. Forrestal's mental health deteriorated during his time in office, and he died on May 22, 1949, in a fall from Bethesda Naval Hospital, officially ruled a suicide. Conspiracy theories have linked his death to his alleged knowledge of UFO-related secrets.
