James W. Moseley
James Willett Moseley (August 4, 1931 – November 16, 2012) was an American UFO researcher, author, and commentator known for his skeptical yet humorous approach to ufology. He gained prominence after a 1953 cross-country trip where he interviewed nearly 100 UFO experts and witnesses, visited the Pentagon and Project Blue Book at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and exposed hoaxes like George Adamski's claims and the Ralph Horton crash. Moseley founded SAUCERS and published Saucer News (1954) and its successor Saucer Smear, the longest-running UFO newsletter, blending satire, exposés, and commentary. His key publication, Shockingly Close to the Truth! (2002, with Karl T. Pflock), chronicled his career as a 'grave-robbing ufologist' and trickster figure who engineered and debunked hoaxes over six decades, influencing UFO discourse profoundly.
