John A. Keel (1930-2009), American journalist and influential UFO researcher, rejected the extraterrestrial hypothesis after extensive investigations starting in 1966, interviewing thousands across 20 states. He proposed 'ultraterrestrials'—shape-shifting, demonic entities from a 'super-spectrum'—linking UFOs to folklore, ghosts, and paranormal phenomena. Key achievements include coining 'Men in Black' (MIB) for sinister figures harassing witnesses, and identifying patterns like 'windows,' 'waves,' and the 'Wednesday phenomenon.' Notable books: Jadoo (1957), UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse (1970), The Mothman Prophecies (1975) on Point Pleasant sightings. Served as technical advisor to Library of Congress (1968-69) and consultant to government offices. Influenced ufology alongside Hynek and Vallée.
