John Spaulding

John Spaulding was an American researcher and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) advocate who investigated CIA involvement in UFO research during the 1970s. In 1975, Spaulding questioned the CIA's authenticity of UFO reports it had provided to him, alleging a coverup of the agency's UFO activities. Unconvinced by the CIA's response that it had ceased UFO study after the Robertson Panel, Spaulding filed a FOIA lawsuit against the CIA in September 1977 specifically requesting all UFO documents in the agency's possession. His legal action contributed to increased transparency regarding government UFO research programs and the CIA's historical involvement in UFO investigations.
