Julio Chamorro

Julio César Chamorro, a retired Peruvian Air Force commandant (Commander), is a key figure in Peru's official UFO investigations. He organized the first official Peruvian Air Force UFO research office, known as OIFFAA (later DIFAA), following major UFO events witnessed across Peru. Chamorro led the Department of Investigation of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena during its operation from 2001 to 2003 under President Alberto Fujimori. In a rare interview, he disclosed a classified incident where a luminous sphere emerged from the Amazon River, hovered over Fujimori's fishing boats with full security, and shot into space. He has also highlighted frequent UFO sightings at La Joya military base in Arequipa, which contributed to the office's establishment. Chamorro has provided testimony in interviews, including on 'La Huella OVNI' and 'NFN Episode 7,' sharing insights on Peruvian UFO cases and his views on the phenomenon.
