Julio Miguel Guerra
Guerra served as a Portuguese Air Force Lieutenant, later achieving the rank of Captain, and worked as a flight instructor with the 101st Air Force Squadron. He accumulated 17,000 hours of flight experience during his career, and in 2009 he received an aeronautic science degree from Lusofona University of Oporto.
On November 2, 1982, while flying his DHC-1 Chipmunk near Ota air base, Guerra witnessed a remarkable aerial encounter. He observed a metallic disc performing high-speed orbits around his aircraft. The object circled his plane for 15 minutes at speeds estimated between 300 and 1550 miles per hour. During an interception attempt, the disc stopped 15 feet above his aircraft. Guerra described the object as round with two halves shaped like tight-fitting skullcaps, possessing a red-brown lower half and a dark spot in the center. Two additional pilots witnessed the encounter and filed independent reports.
After leaving the Portuguese Air Force in 1990 following 18 years of service, Guerra flew as Captain with Portugรกlia Airlines (TAP), Portugal's largest commercial airline. He wrote a first-person account for Leslie Kean's book UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record, and his testimony is recognized as highly credible due to his professional background and detailed documentation.
