Clarence "Kelly" Johnson
Clarence Kelly Johnson (1910-1990) was one of the most brilliant aerospace engineers in American history. He led Lockheed's Skunk Works division and designed iconic aircraft including the U-2, SR-71 Blackbird, and F-104 Starfighter.
On December 16, 1953, Johnson and his wife Althea reported observing an unidentified flying object near Agoura, California. They filed a detailed report describing a dark, solid object that hovered and moved at high speed, which they could not identify as any known aircraft or natural phenomenon. Johnson's credibility as the premier aircraft designer of his era made his sighting particularly significant.
