Witness
Major Charles J. Cheever was a U.S. Air Force navigator involved in a notable UFO encounter in 1951. While flying at 18,000 feet near position 65°40'N 71°40'W, an unidentified aircraft with white running lights flew alongside their B-44 bomber (serial 44-92066), crossed over the nose, and remained in visual view for about 20 minutes. Cheever was unable to identify it. Upon landing, they were met by intelligence officers, indicating multiple sightings in the area. A full report was later required, and Gander radar tracked the object at over 1,800 mph.
