Matt Gaetz (born 1982) is a Republican U.S. Representative from Florida who has become one of the most prominent congressional voices for UAP transparency. In July 2023 he testified before the House Oversight Subcommittee on National Security and described a classified incident he had personally investigated at Eglin Air Force Base: Air Force pilots had encountered four craft flying in diamond formation off the Gulf coast of Mexico, and — according to Gaetz — radar data and photographs of an orb-shaped object showed something that could not be attributed to "any known human capability".

  • Republican U.S. Representative for Florida
  • Born 1982
  • Testified before the House Oversight Subcommittee on National Security in July 2023
  • Personally investigated a classified UAP incident at Eglin Air Force Base
  • Four craft in diamond formation off the Gulf coast of Mexico encountered by Air Force pilots
  • Reviewed radar data and photographs of an orb-shaped object; object not attributable to any known human capability
  • Called for congressional subpoenas of radar imagery and evidence material
  • Works closely with Representatives Tim Burchett and Anna Paulina Luna on UAP investigations

Gaetz's significance for the UAP timeline lies less in a witness sighting than in institutional reach: as a lawmaker he moves a classified incident out of Pentagon internal channels and into the public record of Congress. The Gaetz–Burchett–Luna trio together forms the Republican core of the disclosure agenda in the House and forces both the executive and the intelligence community into specific responses.
