Micah Hanks is an American author, podcaster, researcher, and speaker specializing in history, archaeology, science, and unexplained aerial phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs. He advocates for a scientific, skeptical approach to UAP studies, viewing much of traditional UFOlogy as pseudoscience. Since 2010, Hanks has gained prominence for his research into UAP, anomalous nocturnal illuminations like the Brown Mountain Lights, earthquake lights, and ball lightning, exploring their geophysical and atmospheric explanations and potential links to UAP sightings. In 2016, he developed a simplified, falsifiable UAP classification system inspired by astronomer Allan Hendry. He is a contributing member of the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU), co-founder of The Debrief news site on science and technology, and editor-in-chief there. Hanks hosts 'The Micah Hanks Program' podcast, covering UAP, SETI, archaeology, and mysteries. His books and essays appear in various publications; he has appeared on CNN Radio, Coast to Coast AM, and History Channel. Additionally, he co-founded Seven Ages Research Associates, producing documentaries on early American archaeology sites like Topper and Meadowcroft Rockshelter.
