Mikel Conrad
Mikel Conrad (1920s-1980s) was an American filmmaker and actor who became notable in UFO research circles for his 1950 film 'The Flying Saucer,' often considered the first feature film about flying saucers. Conrad claimed to have filmed eight flying saucers landing near Juneau, Alaska, asserting the footage was subsequently seized by the U.S. Air Force. He wrote, produced, directed, and starred in 'The Flying Saucer' (1950), a Cold War spy thriller that capitalized on the UFO craze following Kenneth Arnold's 1947 sighting and the Roswell Incident. While primarily a minor actor and filmmaker, Conrad's claims about UFO footage and his film contributed to early popular culture engagement with UFO phenomena during the nascent flying saucer era.
