Paul Dong, a Chinese-American ufologist born in mainland China, emigrated to the United States and became a pivotal figure in bridging Chinese and Western UFO research. He is renowned for documenting and translating numerous Chinese UFO cases for international audiences, significantly raising global awareness of UAP phenomena in China. His seminal 1983 book UFOs Over Modern China details key incidents, including the 1961 Kaifeng photographs by engineer Chang Ching-lai of a hovering disc-shaped craft, and the 1968 Luda naval encounter with a golden oval object that disrupted radar and communications. Dong contributed to CURA publications and authored articles like 'The UFO Phenomenon As I See It' in 1981. He also co-authored works such as China's Super Psychics and explored intersections of qigong and UFOs. Through his efforts, many rare Chinese sightings, previously unknown in the West, were preserved and shared.
