Pontus Reuterswärd was a Swedish Major General commanding upper Norrland during the 1933-1934 Scandinavian 'Ghost Flyers' wave, an early series of unidentified aerial intrusions over Sweden and Norway. Born in Sweden, he served in the military and investigated hundreds of reports of mystery aircraft violating Swedish airspace, often over secret military areas. In April 1934, he publicly stated that comparisons of reliable eyewitness accounts confirmed illegal air traffic by unmarked planes, impossible to dismiss as imagination. Despite an official investigation concluding no 'Ghost Flyers' existed, Reuterswärd insisted violations could not be denied, drawing heavy criticism. In 1936-1937, he urged the Defense Minister to address renewed sightings, though civilian probes were rejected. His forthright testimony marks him as a key early military figure acknowledging anomalous aerial phenomena predating modern UFO eras.
